F.A.Q.

Q: When will the game be fully released?
We do not currently have a planned release date. Patreon benefits include early access (explained further in the F.A.Q.), but we also plan to have open periods for all when reaching certain milestones.

Q: What is your current roadmap?

Things are constantly changing, so please join our Discord to get the latest roadmap. It will be the sole message in our road-map channel, and visible whether or not you are a Patreon. That being said, our goal is to release a new major feature at the end of every quarter, such as combat or crafting.

Q: What platforms will the game be playable on?
We are currently targeting Windows. The client will be downloadable from our website. We have plans to release on the Epic Games Store as well, but we currently have no plans for any other storefronts or platforms.

Q: How much content will be in the game?
We currently have plans for 4 different game modes planned. Our Raid inspired Siege, our Battle Royale inspired Campaign, our Open World inspired Exploration, and our MOBA inspired Conquest. Seige will be PvE only, and the other three will have optional PvP in order to increase loot. We also have numerous regions of various themes. Our game modes can happen nearly anywhere in the world, so every battle will be different then the last.

Q: How much will the game cost once it is released?
Purgatory Vale will always be free to play, with a membership option.

Q: How do I claim my Patreon rewards in game?
We will be keeping track of rewards in our internal database. Once the items are officially released they will be retroactively rewarded.

Q: How many playable Legends (classes)?
We currently have 2 playable legends, the Paragon and the Sell Sword. We have many other Legends planned, and will be added once our initial vertical slice is complete.

Q: Is this game Pay to Win?
No. Our premium currency can only be used to buy membership and cosmetics. While the cosmetics can ultimately be crafted into something else, we do not directly sell our premium currency for real world money, only as part of our monthly Patreon reward. I addition to this, the game is ultimately horizontally scaled, so the stats provided by equipment are generally nominal and more of a utility aspect as opposed to better gear means bigger numbers.

Q: What are Gold Dragon Coins?
Gold Dragon Coins, or GDC, are the premium currency of the world. They are currently designed with the goal of being a loyalty system, with their use being purchasing membership and cosmetics.

Q: What are Cosmetic Bundles?
Cosmetic bundles will contain a unique weapon or armor, with the primary goal of being a transmog for other equipment. Each Patreon tier offers a unique item and transmog token, and you earn bundles lower then your current tier as well. Currently they will be Patreon only, but we are not against providing through other means if that is the communities desire.

Q: What is the StormBear Town?
StormBear Town is the in-game hub world on our test servers. This will give dedicated fans an in-game way to more readily play and interact with the devs. Once we launch officially, this location will be mostly limited to season pass holders (more details on that further in the F.A.Q.), as that is the only way to access the test servers consistently. There will be open test periods, but they will be more limited compared to season pass holders.

Q: What are Dragon Boxes and [Dragon] Keys?
They are the loot boxes of Vale. They contain random in game loot such as various cosmetics and GDC. Nothing will ever be loot box unique, and will always have alternative ways to obtain, most often a direct purchase option using GDC.

Q: What are Beta, Alpha and Early Access Tickets?
These tickets, when consumed, will grant ongoing access from the earliest possible moment. I.e. a Beta Ticket will grant access to all Beta testing periods. We will also have Open Test periods as well, but they will be more rare. Internally we are calling Early Access the point in which players can create a Legend and enter the world, Alpha will be once we have a vertical slice, and Beta will be once we have enough content to justify calling it a full game. When a ticket of higher quality is received, all lower quality tickets are automatically converted. I.e. if a tier has 2 Beta Tickets, and the next tier offers 1 Alpha ticket, that tier will have a total of 3 Alpha Tickets.

Q: What are Tablets of Teildiath and Carinth?
Tablets are consumables that grant access to the current season, which currently last for one year. A Tablet of Teildiath will last for one season, while a Tablet of Carunth is eternal, giving access to all seasons. Seasons in Vale will provide early access to development content post release, as well as other goodies, such as Dragon Boxes and GDC.

Q: What are Work-in-progress updates (digital)?
They are a set of exclusive discord channels where the team will update much more frequently then other areas. They will provide a much more day to day look into our progress, and also serves as a way to provide feedback and vote on content at a very early stage.

Q: What is Free Merch?
Free merch will be receiving an item in our merch store, of your choosing, for free.

Q: What is Legendary Merch?
Same deal as Free Merch, but with all the bells and whistles. Want it signed by the team? Done. Only want certain team members to sign? No Problem. Want it presented nice? Maybe a glass case for the mug, or a frame for the poster? Easy mode. We aim to be as flexible as possible, and deliver on any reasonable requests.
